This short paper describes an innovative product designed by the authors to utilize
perishable service capacity. We conducted a eld study and launched our innovative Fly-at-
Ease pass at a Chinese budget airline. Taking a broader perspective, the design principle of our
Fly-at-Ease pass should be viewed as a general innovative business model to utilize perishable
service capacities. Small airlines, hotels, car rentals, and other service companies can launch
similar products during normal periods.
报告人简介：
Rowan Wang (王宇) is an Associate Professor at Southern University of Science and
Technology (南方科技大学). Rowan's research interests include operational system analysis
and control; practice-based operational design and optimization; data-driven research on social-
ly responsible and China-focused operations; and business operations innovation and develop-
ment. His works have been published in journals such as Manufacturing & Service Operations
Management and Production and Operations Management.
