We first present a review of the research on smart supply chain management. Then two real world cases ion supply chain optimization are introduced: In the first case, we propose  an integrated strategy that combines production planning with a randomized storage assignment policy. The strategy takes the advantage of greater traceability of items provided by IoT-enabled tracking systems. An integer linear programming model is developed. A heuristic and a lower bound are developed to solve the large-scale real-world case and compare with a dedicated policy. In the second case, motivated by a real-world case from an automaker, we investigate a manufacturer’s optimal order quantity and a supplier’s production capacity strategy, where the manufacturer provides either a penalty or compensation to the supplier in order to share risks that arise from uncertain demand. We develop the Stackelberg game theory model with newsvendor formulation. Our results show that the manufacturer's order and the supplier's capacity are always in a state of dynamic balance.

张国庆教授，加拿大温莎大学供应链与物流优化研究实验室主任，担任IJPE和AOR特刊首席客座编辑。从事供应链管理、物流、运营研究、算法设计与开发、仓储管理、区块链以及数据驱动优化和智能决策支持系统等领域的研究，在OR、EJOR、TRB、TRE、IISE、Omega等期刊发表论文80余篇，曾为数家世界领先的汽车、能源、航空和食品行业的公司提供咨询服务。张国庆教授和他的团队在2015年加拿大运筹学学会实践奖竞赛中获第一名。
