讲座内容摘要 | Physical activity is fundamental to maintaining and improving health, yet many people worldwide do not get enough movement in their daily lives. Sedentary behavior is increasingly recognized as a risk factor for a range of chronic health conditions. In this talk, we will first explore the significance of physical activity for overall health and well-being, establishing the importance of making movement a priority in everyday life. The presentation will begin by defining key concepts around physical activity and sedentary behavior, setting the stage with a comparative look at current physical activity statistics in Australia and China. Following this, I will present recent findings on physical activity and health outcomes in older adults, generated by the Behavioral and Social Epidemiology (BASE) Research Group. I will also share key results from Sit Less, Get Active, a massive open online course that aims to encourage participants to incorporate more movement into their routines. The talk will conclude with practical advice on how to reduce sitting time, stay active, and integrate beneficial movement practices into daily life—small steps that add up to significant health benefits. Join us to learn how sitting less and moving more can make a positive difference to your health and quality of life. |
