| Abstract China’s local political tournament has significant influence on land allocation policy. By proposing a model we find that local leaders’ political competition for promotion makes newly supplied land in favor of industrial use, which curbs the supply and pushes up the price of commercial and residential real estate property. The relationship between local leaders’ promotion incentive (i.e., age) and commercial/residential land price is significantly positive. We then utilize a 2003-2007 city-level dataset to verify the effect. In the city where the official has little potential of promotion (elder age esp. more than 50 years old), the ratio of industrial land supply is lower, and commercial and residential real estate price is also lower. But in the city where the official has greater potential of promotion (young leaders), the ratio of industrial land supply is higher. The empirical result is consistent with our theoretical argument. | |||

| 报告人简介 徐建炜博士，现供职于北京师范大学经济与工商管理学院，曾获得《金融研究》年度最佳论文奖、华东师范大学陈彪如国际金融论文奖二等奖等奖项。2007年至2011年于北京大学中国经济研究中心攻读博士学位，2009年至2010年在美国纽约大学斯特恩商学院访问。 目前，他在国内重要学术期刊《中国社会科学》、《经济研究》、《管理世界》与《世界经济》等杂志发表20余篇学术论文，出版学术专著《还权赋能——奠定长期发展的可靠基础》（北京大学出版社）。此外，他还主持了中国自然科学基金青年项目、中央高校基本科研业务费专项资金资助项目，并参与“金融租赁对货币政策传导机制的影响”、“农产品价格与通货膨胀”、“浙江省民营资本进入金融业的研究报告”、“汇率与房价问题研究报告”与“中国十二·五改革总体规划思路课题”等课题的写作研究。同时，他还在北京师范大学经济与工商管理学院开设《中国经济》（全英文项目）、《高级宏观经济学I》、《国际经济学》、《国际金融：理论与实务》等课程。 | |||
