  The 12th China· Practice· Management Forum (2021) was successfully held online from December 18th to 19th, 2021. This forum was initiated by the Journal of Management, hosted by the School of Management of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, undertaken by the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, , and co-organized by Huazhang Branch of Machinery Industry Press, the Professional Committee of Management Thought and Business Ethics of China Modernization Research Association, the Professional Committee of Management Philosophy of China Enterprise Management Research Association and the Institute of Management Philosophy and Methodology of Southeast University. This forum was strongly supported by the Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Fudan Management Award Foundation.


  More than 500 people attended the forum, including experts, scholars and graduate students engaged in management research from Peking University, Nankai University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Dalian University of Technology, Northeastern University, Shandong University, Southeast University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other universities, as well as business guests from Jiangsu Changjianghui Technology Co., Ltd., Dongguan Xuncheng Electric Co., Ltd., and Foshan Fasa Building Materials Group. The main forum was broadcasted live on CNKI platform, and the sub-forum was broadcasted live on Tencent Meeting, with a total of more than 3,000 people watching the live broadcast.

  The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Professor Tian Zhilong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management. Liu Zuoyi, Deputy Director of the Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Professor Huang Dawei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southeast University, Professor Huang Lihua, Deputy Secretary-General of Fudan Management Award Foundation, Professor Yuan Jianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management, Southeast University, Professor Yang Zhi, Dean of School of Management, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Management, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.


  Deputy Director Liu Zuoyi pointed out that China's management science research should be better based on China, face China's management practices and actively respond to the call of the Party Central Committee. He also claimed that we should write papers in consideration of our motherland. Vice President Huang Dawei pointed out that innovation& development as well as common prosperity are not only important topics of our age, but also an important mission for management scholars, and their achievement requires the mutual effort of participating experts, scholars and academic colleagues. Deputy Secretary-General Huang Lihua briefly introduced the basic situation of the Fudan Management Award Foundation, and pointed out that just as its founder Li Lanqing advocated, “management science is an important part of China's soft power, and it is necessary to continuously build up Management Science theory with Chinese characteristics”. Huang Lihua also believes it is the common responsibility of management scholars to promote the growth of Chinese management talents and enhance the influence of Chinese management. Secretary Yuan Jianhong briefly introduced the basic situation of the discipline construction of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University. Dean Yang Zhi wished that the China· Practice· Management Forum, with the continued strong support of the Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Fudan Management Award Foundation, will continue to gather colleagues in all directions to explain Chinese practice with Chinese theories and sublimate Chinese theories with Chinese practices.

  In the keynote speech session of the conference on the morning of December 18, Professor Zhao Shuming of Nanjing University, Professor Xi Youmin of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Professor Li Weian of Nankai University, Professor Su Jingqin of Dalian University of Technology, Professor Chen Chunhua of Peking University, Professor Gao Chuang of Capital University of Economics and Business, Professor Chen Kaihua of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhang Jinlong, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of “Journal of Management”, respectively delivered excellent speeches entitled “Common Prosperity and All-round Human Development”, “Business Administration, Industry Integration, Industrialists and Ecological Management in the Age of Digital Intelligence”, “Digital Governance and Corporate Governance Innovation”, “How to excavate management theories in the context of China - discovery logic and extrapolation logic”, “Synergy and symbiosis framework - system efficiency and value evolution”, “New strategies for enterprise survival under great change”, “Theoretical thinking on the transformation and development of innovation” and “Doing Practice-Oriented Chinese Management Science Research”. Those reports were wonderful and beneficial, integrating the ancient and the modern. The keynote speech sessions were presided over by Professor Li Dong from Southeast University, Professor Su Yong from Fudan University, Professor Zhang Yulin from Southeast University, Professor Sun Xinbo from Northeastern University, and Professor Du Yunzhou from Southeast University.

  On the afternoon of December 18th, 79 experts and  scholars from well-known universities across the country focused on “Management in China”, “Local Chinese Case Studies”, “New Economy and Enterprise Digital Transformation”, “Organization and Strategy” “, “Human Resource Management”, “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, “Marketing and Service” , and discussed those 7 topics in 9 sub-forums. The sub-forums were respectively hosted by Professor Le Guolin from Qingdao University of Technology, Professor Cui Miao from Dalian University of Technology, Professor Lu Qicheng from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, Professor Yang Lin from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Professor Zhou Xiaohu from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Professor Chen Weizheng from Sichuan University, and Jia Jianfeng from Northeastern University, Professor Ma Hongjia of Jilin University, Professor Su Zhongfeng of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Professor Jing Fei of Bohai University.

  On the afternoon of December 18th, the forum held two workshops in parallel, “Interpretation of Chinese Entrepreneurs' Management Thoughts” and “Chinese Culture and Management”. In the special exchange and discussion session of the former workshop, Professor Tian Zhilong, Associate Editor of the Journal of Management, Professor Su Yong from Fudan University, Professor Ouyang Taohua from Beihang University, and Professor Hu Haibo from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics gave speeches on the interpretation of Chinese entrepreneurs' management thoughts. During the paper polishing session of the “Interpretation of Chinese Entrepreneurs' Management Thoughts” workshop, teachers and students from the University of Leeds, South China University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Northeastern University, and Shandong University reported their own keynote papers on entrepreneurial thoughts. Professor Yan Aimin from Central South University, Professor Xiao Jinghua from Sun Yat-Sen University, Professor Chen Zhijun from Shandong University, Professor Li Min from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Professor Pan Ancheng from Dalian University of Technology, Professor Zhang Lu from Inner Mongolia University of Technology, Professor Yan Ruosen from Wuhan University, Professor Du Yunzhou from Southeast University, Professor Zhang Xiao from Nanjing University and Professor Wang Shiquan of Northeastern University gave precise, detailed and professional comments on the relevant papers. The above-mentioned exchange sessions of the “Interpretation of Chinese Entrepreneurs' Management Thought” workshop were presided over by Professor Wang Haisu from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Professor Chen Zhijun from Shandong University, and Professor Tian Zhilong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Management.


  At the “Chinese Culture and Management” workshop, Professor Jia Lijun from East China Normal University, Professor Gong Jiangang from Dalian University of Technology, Professor Sun Xinbo from Northeastern University, Professor Hu Guodong from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, and Professor Zhou Jianbo from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics made wonderful speeches around the theme of “Chinese Culture and Management”. In the interactive session, Professor Sun Xinbo, Professor Hu Guodong, Professor Zhou Jianbo, and Professor Hou Jingchuan from East China Normal University conducted exchanges and discussions on the theme of “Oriental Research Paradigm” and interactedactively with online scholars. During the exchange of the workshop, the scholars' viewpoints were splendid, and the interactive atmosphere of the venue was warm. The relevant exchange sessions of the “Chinese Culture and Management” workshop were hosted by Professor Peng Luluo of Hunan University, Professor Hou Jingchuan of East China Normal University, Professor Jia Lijun of East China Normal University, and Professor Cai Wenzhuo of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.

  On the morning of December 19th, the forum was followed by the “Management Practice Innovation Forum”. In the exchange session of the forum, Professor Yang Du from Renmin University of China, Professor Li Dong from Southeast University, and Professor Chao Gang from South China University of Technology made speeches entitled “Huawei's Living Method” and “Tramp over hill and dale: Analysis on Micro Ability of Macroscopic Leaps” and “Enterprise Lean Production Practice Traditional Culture Trilogy”. Mr. Fang Baoli, Chairman of Jiangsu Changjianghui Technology Co., Ltd., Ms. Liu Minjuan, CEO of Dongguan Xuncheng Electric Co., Ltd., and Mr. Fan Lifang, Executive Director of Foshan Fasa Building Materials Group respectively made wonderful sharing on the theme of “Practice of Yangtze River Ecological Governance under Digital Empowerment”, “Making Western Things Ser for China: the influence of a foreign-funded enterprise's introduction of Chinese excellent traditional culture on lean production” and “Fasa's Governance by Inaction”. Afterwards, guests from business circles including CEO Liu Minjuan, Executive Director Fan Lifang, and Professor Yang Du, Professor Li Dong and Professor Chao Gang held a round-table dialogue on the theme of “Cultural Power Behind Lean Production”. During the dialogue, different viewpoints and perspectives from practice and theory showed their insightful brilliance in the collision and agitation. Professor Lian Yuanqiang from Yangzhou University, Professor Xu Hui from Nankai University, and Professor Hu Hanhui from Southeast University respectively presided over the above-mentioned exchange sessions.

  The closing ceremony was held at 12:00am on December 19th. The session was chaired by Professor Li Ganwen from Nanjing Audit University. Professor Lv Hongjiang from Southeast University made a summary of the papers in the sub-forums. Professor Bao Yan from Xi’an Jiaotong University gave a brief introduction on the organizer of the next forum, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and warmly invited the delegates to gather in the ancient capital of Xi'an next year. After that, Professor Yang Zhi, Dean of the School of Management of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, President and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Management, read out the list of outstanding papers of this forum. A total of 10 outstanding papers were selected in this forum. Professor Yang Zhi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the award-winning authors. Finally, Professor Yang Zhi made a summary speech at the forum. In the speech, Professor Yang Zhi expressed his gratitude to the guests, expert scholars who participated in the forum, to the support units of the forum, the Department of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Fudan Management Award Foundation, and to the organizers of the forum for their hard work in the early stage of preparation. At the same time, Professor Yang Zhi fully affirmed the academic value of the forum and hoped that all the delegates and academic colleagues can remember their original aspirations, focus on local management practices, and carry out more in-depth research.


  Since then, the 12th China· Practice· Management Forum had come to a successful conclusion.
