On the morning of November 6th, 2021, the 2021 annual meeting of the China City Hundred People Forum was successfully held in Beijing. The theme of this annual meeting was "Strategic Optimization of New Urbanization: Wisdom, Ecology and Humanity".
The awarding ceremony of the second "Young Scholar Award" of the China City Hundred People Forum was held during the annual meeting. It was presided over by Academician Ding Zhongli, who is the Vice Chairman of the 13th National People's Congress and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic League.The signed award certificates were awarded to the three "Young Scholar Award" winners by Hou Jianguo, President and Secretary of the Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Li Xiaohong, President and Secretary of the Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Xie Fuzhan, President and Secretary of the Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Professor Liu Xiuyan of our school won this honor. The award ceremony was jointly witnessed by Wu Liangyong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and professor of Tsinghua University, and Wang Guangtao, director of the 11th National People's Congress Environmental Protection Committee and former Minister of the Ministry of Construction, and other members of the Hundred People Forum.

The China City Hundred People Forum was initiated by scholars such as Xu Kuangdi and Academician Wu Liangyong, and was co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.It is a national high-end think tank platform that is non-profit, academic, and multidisciplinary. It focuses on major issues in China's urban development and urbanization, exploring the regularity of China's new pattern of urbanization and urban development, and striving to find Chinese solutions to major urban problems.
In 2018, the China City Hundred People Forum established the "Young Scholar Award" for young scholars who are committed to urban research fields such as planning, economy, society, and management. The purpose of the award is to encourage young scholars to engage in urban research, and to reserve talents for the forum.The influence of papers published in related fields in the past 5 years is taken as the entry threshold. Moreover, academic level, academic contributions, and other aspects are also comprehensively considered. The winners are selected every two years.According to the regulations in the China Urban Hundred People Forum "Young Scholars Award" Selection Plan, after three rounds of evaluation by experts organized by the forum, and confirmed by the joint meeting of the three deans of the forum, three scholars won the award. They are Professor Zhu Xufeng from the School of Public Administration of Tsinghua University, Professor Liu Xiuyan from the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, and Researcher Wang Jiaoe from the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Liu Xiuyan, born in 1979, is a male from Jining, Shandong Province. He is a young chief professor of Southeast University, a doctoral supervisor, a candidate for the National Youth Talent Program, and a "Young Talent in Social Sciences" of Jiangsu Province. He is also a director of China Regional Science Association, Vice Chairman of the Professional Committee of Spatial Analysis, Deputy Secretary General of the Professional Committee of New Economic Geography, and member of the Urban and Regional Economic Professional Committee of the China Economics Annual Conference. He is an anonymous reviewer of magazines such as Economic Research, Economics (Quarterly), Management World, China Industrial Economy, World Economy, Finance and Trade Economy and other magazines. He has published more than 50 papers on world-wide core journals such as Economic Research, Management World, China Industrial Economy, World Economy, Economics (Quarterly), Economics Perspectives, Finance and Trade Economy, Review of Development Economics, Applied Economic Letters, China & World Economy, Frontiers of Economics in China, etc. He presided over an under-study key project of the National Social Science Fund and completed two projects of the National Social Science Fund. He has won a number of provincial and ministerial awards, including the first prize of Jiangsu Province Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award. His main research area is urban and regional economics.
