From the afternoon of May 16th to the afternoon of May 17th, the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress was successfully held in the great hall of Sipailou Campus. This Communist Party Congress was an important meeting in these crucial times as the 120th anniversary of SEU approaches, the construction of first-class universities with Chinese characteristics in the world accelerates, and our country steps on the path of creating a socialist modern country. The meeting had five sessions: listen to and comment on the report of the 14th SEU Communist Party Congress, deliberate on the 14th SEU Commission for discipline inspection, elect the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress, elect the 15th SEU Commission for discipline inspection, and discuss certain decisions which were to be made.
On the afternoon of May 16th, the opening ceremony and the first full council of the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress were successfully held. Zhang Aijun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the head of the Department of Propaganda, Ge DaoKai, Education Working Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Director of the Education Department, Hong Hao, the Vice Minister of the Department of Organization of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Guan Henglu, the former Party Secretary of NAU, and related comrades of departments of organization, propaganda, and education from the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee attended the opening ceremony. The heads of the school——Zuo Wei, Huang Ru, Huang Dawei, Liu Pan, Gao Liguo, Zhong Wenqi, Sun Litao, and Xing Jihong, attended the meeting. The members of the school’s leader party who were not communist party members, old leaders who retired recently, those party system leaders from vice department levels and higher ones who were not representatives of the 15th Communist Party Congress, and principal cadres of the administrative system attended the meeting. Academician representatives, senior professors of humanities representatives, members of the 14th party committee who were not in the 15th Communist Party Congress, CPPCC members above province level, other parties, Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, the Non-party Intellectuals Association, and leaders of WRSA were also invited to join the meeting. Peking University, Tsinghua University, and more than seventy other brother schools sent celebration letters and congratulatory telegrams. The opening ceremony was hosted by headmaster Huang Ru.
After the ceremony, the first full council of the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress was held. Zuo Wei, representing the 14th SEU Communist Party Congress, made a report themed “Create a New Way for Development in These Decisive Times and Strive for Constructing First-class Universities with Chinese Characteristics in the World”.
The SEU Commission for discipline inspection made a written report to the committee.
On the afternoon of May 17th, the second full council of the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress and the closing ceremony were held in the great hall of Sipailou Campus. The second full council was hosted by Congress Executive Chairman Xing Jihong. The meeting passed the election method of the Congress, the member list of balloting observers, the director of balloting, counters, and the director of counting, and the candidates for the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress and the 15th SEU Commission for discipline inspection. The new members were elected through a secret ballot.
According to the election rules and results, 27 people were elected as members of the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress and 13 people were elected as members of the 15th SEU Commission for discipline inspection.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Huang Ru. At the ceremony, all delegates passed the decisions about the work reports of the 15th SEU Communist Party Congress and the 15th SEU Commission for discipline inspection.
