The 2024 Jiangsu Province Graduate Summer School on "Digital Intelligence Management" Successfully Held

From July 25 to August 3, 2024, the 2024 Jiangsu Province Graduate Summer School on "Digital Intelligence Management" was successfully held at Southeast University. This ten-day summer school was organized by the Jiangsu Province Graduate Education Guidance Committee for Management Disciplines, hosted by the School of Economics and Management at Southeast University, and co-organized by the Jiangsu Province Management Science and Engineering Discipline Alliance, the Collaborative Innovation and Management Branch of the Management Science and Engineering Society, the Yangtze River Delta Universities Management Science and Engineering Discipline Development Collaboration Network, and the Jiangsu Province Operations Research Society. Nearly 100 students from 29 universities across 11 provinces participated in the event.

Leveraging Southeast University's strong discipline in "Management Science and Engineering," this summer school focused on themes and course settings that closely align with national development strategies and the international academic forefront. It invited several internationally renowned professors who have made significant impacts and original contributions in the field of management science and engineering to provide a series of specialized courses, academic forums, and cutting-edge lectures on topics such as logistics and supply chain management, intelligent decision-making methods, sustainable supply chains, big data, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the summer school facilitated an interdisciplinary learning and exchange platform through a journal editor forum and academic exchange sessions, promoting academic interaction, broadening academic horizons, and enhancing academic levels.

The opening ceremony of the summer school took place on the morning of July 26 at the Economic Management Building Lecture Hall of Southeast University’s Jiulonghu Campus. Professor Huang Dawei, a member of the university’s Party Committee and Vice President, delivered a speech introducing the development history of Southeast University and the achievements of the Management Science and Engineering discipline, commending the preparation team and encouraging students to cherish the learning opportunities and walk alongside experts. Professor Yuan Liudi, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School, conveyed congratulations on the opening of the summer school and expressed hopes that students would seize the opportunities presented by big data and artificial intelligence technologies to promote management innovation together. Professor Zhong Weijun, Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Graduate Education Guidance Committee for Management Disciplines, introduced the goals of the summer school, urging students to engage in impactful research. Professor Yuan Jianhong, Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of fulfilling "three implementations" during the summer school. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Xue Weili, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Southeast University.

The summer school featured six distinguished scholars as course instructors. Professor Wang Ruxian from Johns Hopkins University explored the theory and practice of revenue management in his course on "Revenue Management and Pricing." Professor Jiang Li from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University systematically explained game theory research methods, case studies, and theoretical applications in supply chain management. Associate Professor Li Yongzhen from Southeast University introduced the basic concepts and applications of robust optimization. Professor Chen Zhi from the Chinese University of Hong Kong delivered an accessible lecture on the theoretical framework of robust optimization and discussed various application scenarios in operations management. Researcher Lin Yunhui from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore presented the applications of location problems in logistics and supply chain management. Professor Pan Kai from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University discussed "Dimensionality Reduction Methods in Distributionally Robust Optimization," exploring how dimensionality reduction techniques can improve optimization efficiency.

In addition, the summer school organized a journal editor forum, inviting Professor Luo Jun, the director of the editorial office of Journal of Systems Management, Professor Wang Shuming, the field editor of Computers & Operations Research and Associate Editor of Decision Sciences, and Professor Meng Yongqiang, the assistant director of the editorial office of Journal of Management Science to share insights on their respective journals' characteristics, submission guidelines, and trends in discipline development. They engaged in in-depth discussions with students and faculty, providing valuable academic guidance.

The summer school concluded successfully on August 3, with a graduation ceremony held at the School of Economics and Management Lecture Hall. Professor Zhang Yulin, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Province Graduate Education Guidance Committee for Management Disciplines, Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Management Science and Engineering Discipline Alliance, and Faculty Member of the School of Economics and Management at Southeast University, expressed that this summer school was not only a convergence and collision of knowledge but also a brilliant display of intellectual sparks. He sincerely thanked the professors for their hard work and the students for their active participation, commending the meticulous preparation by the School of Economics and Management and all collaborating units. He outlined three hopes for the students: to cherish their learning and deepen their understanding; to be proactive in practice and innovate; and to continue learning and keep pace with the times. Subsequently, representatives of each study group shared their reflections on the summer school experience. Finally, Professor Gao Xing, Head of the Management Science and Engineering Department, and Teacher Zhou Yu, the summer school class supervisor, presented certificates to the students. The graduation ceremony was hosted by Ding Yi, Deputy Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Southeast University.

This summer school fostered a vibrant and innovative learning atmosphere, expanded the academic horizons of the graduates, deepened interactions and friendships among students, and laid a solid foundation for their future academic research and career development, achieving great success.
